L&E Alert: Employers Required to Use New Form I-9

Employers Required to Use New Form I-9

REVISED

The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has released a newly revised Form I–9 for employment eligibility verification.

Starting May 7, 2013, employers are required to use the new Form I-9. Employers may continue to use previously-accepted versions of Form I-9 or the new Form I-9 until then. Employers do not need to complete the new Form I–9 for current employees for whom there is already a properly completed Form I–9 on file.

The new Form I-9 is available at //www.uscis.gov/files/form/i-9.pdf.
