As the temperatures cooled and the leaves started to change, HLGR attorneys and staff wanted to help make a difference in our communities. We believe part of what makes us good citizens is our appreciation for people, the natural environment, and education. So, we put ourselves to work!
As a part of the Oregon Lawyers Against Hunger Campaign, HLGR attorneys and staff members (Jim Mountain, Hwa Go, Kate Grado, Allison Ritchie, Taylor Woods, Sabrina Jenkins, and Corinne Bolan) helped pack 10,566 meals at the Oregon Food Bank in Portland on September 20. The firm also raised funds for the Oregon Food Bank through “jeans days” and a bake sale. The Oregon Food Back provides emergency food to hungry families throughout the state of Oregon, helping nearly one in five households fend off hunger.
Six HLGR representatives (John Rake, Ted Simpson, Craig Starr, Joanne Austin, Bob Taylor, and Allison Ritchie) participated in the Bicycle Transportation Alliance’s “Bike Commute Challenge.” Together they logged 509 commuting miles to help promote bicycling and improve bicycling conditions in Oregon.
We were also a sponsor of the Classroom Law Project Golf Tournament on September 24. And, HLGR attorneys, Hwa Go and Adam Gamboa, teed up in support of the Classroom Law Project’s innovative, timely, practical, and fun civic education for Oregon students.
We sincerely want to thank our fellow Oregonians who work to make a difference every day!
