Ethics: Practical Fraud and Loss Prevention/Mitigation
Presentation description: Ethical lapses in public organizations can occur in the absence of intentional fraud, but well-informed administrators can use similar strategies to ward off both and mitigate their consequences. Attendees will learn the basic ethical standards defined in law by the Oregon State Legislature. Drawing on real cases, the most common motives for unethical and fraudulent conduct will be used to suggest practical, concrete steps to minimize an organization’s exposure. Finally, suggestions will be offered about how to mitigate the damage that will follow if unethical and fraudulent conduct is not successfully prevented.
