It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our colleague, mentor, and friend, Dave Frohnmayer, on March 9, 2015. He was 74.
Dave joined our firm in 2009 at the end of his term as the University of Oregon President (1994 to 2009). From 1981 to 1991, Dave served as Oregon’s Attorney General. As attorney general, he argued and won six of seven cases before the United States Supreme Court, the most cases and best record of any contemporary state attorney general. His prior public service also included three terms in the Oregon House of Representatives, legal advisor to the University of Oregon president and dean of the University of Oregon Law School. As a UO President Emeritus, Dave also taught courses on leaderships in the Clark Honors and the College of Arts and Sciences at UO and public law courses at the UO law school.
He and his wife, Lynn, are founders of the Fanconi Anemia Research Fund, Inc., and he is a founding director of the National Marrow Donor Program.
A graduate of Harvard in 1962, he then attended Oxford University on a Rhodes Scholarship and received his law degree from the University of California, Berkeley in 1967.
Dave is survived by his wife, Lynn, his sons, Mark and Jonathan, and his daughter Amy. His daughters, Kirsten and Katie, preceded him in death.
